Role Title: Accountant
Department: Finance Operations
Location: Dubai, UAE
Reports to: Senior Finance Manager / Head of Finance Operations
Position Overview:
The Accountant will be responsible for managing key financial processes, including month-end closing, accounts receivable, reconciliation, invoice verification, and P&L management. This role ensures compliance with VAT, complex reconciliation and good knowledge of excel. The Accountant will work closely with other departments to maintain accurate financial records, ensure proper accrual accounting, and improve operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- P&L Management:
- Oversee the preparation and reporting of the Profit & Loss statement, providing insights for business decisions.
- Ensure accurate and timely expense accruals and financial reporting.
- Month-End Closing:
- Complete month-end closing tasks, including reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statement preparation.
- Expense Management:
- Record and manage accruals, prepayments, and related adjustments in financial systems.
- Invoice Verification and Control:
- Verify vendor and operational invoices, ensuring compliance with contracts and purchase orders.
- Manage vendor statement reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
- Accounts Receivable Management:
- Oversee receivables from payment gateways, third-party logistics (3PL), COD drivers, and credit suppliers.
- Ensure accurate posting, reconciliation, and timely collection.
- VAT Compliance:
- Oversee VAT accounting, filing, and submission of returns in UAE.
- Assist in VAT audits and handle queries from tax authorities.
- Reconciliation of Financial Records:
- Perform regular reconciliations of bank statements, accounts receivable, prepayments, and accruals.
- Collaboration and Reporting:
- Collaborate with various departments to streamline financial processes.
- Provide financial reports and insights to senior leadership.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (BBA, B.Com, MBA preferred).
- Experience:
- 5-6 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on receivables, cost of sales, accruals, and P&L management, ideally in an e-commerce or retail environment.
- Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong knowledge of complex e-commerce reconciliation, VAT compliance..
- Proficiency in ERP systems (Oracle NetSuite), financial software, and inventory management tools.
- Strong analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
Desired Skills:
- Hard Skills:
- Expertise in financial software, ERP systems, and inventory management (e.g., ERP vs. WMS reconciliation).
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis)..
- Experience in high-volume transaction environments.
- Familiarity with VAT regulations in UAE.
- Soft Skills:
