Job Title: Senior Payments Officer

The Senior Payments Officer verifies and processes system invoices as well as requests for payment. He or she also maintains payment files and executes check generation jobs through completion.  A senior Payments Officer is responsible for performing more complex tasks in the payments department of an organization and assisting the junior staff in processing financial transactions. Senior accounts payable specialists manage invoice releases for vendors and perform bank reconciliations. They also handle the vendors' inquiries and concerns regarding their paychecks and resolve billing discrepancies that they may have. A senior account payable specialist must have excellent knowledge of the accounting principles to generate payments accurately and maintain an organized record of the financial filing system.



  • Follow company processes, controls, and policies 
  • Create and take action on month-end accounts payable reports 
  • Receive invoices, perform necessary validations, and execute transactions with timeliness  
  • Resolve issues, serve as a resource in troubleshooting complex matters and ensure that problems are responded to in a timely manner 
  • Ensure company policies, processes, and procedures are clearly defined, updated, and documented 
  • Prepare, process, and submit check files, wire transfers, ACH payments, and other payment gateways 
  • Maintains historical records in both electronic form and paper form (filing documents) 
  • Protects the organization’s value by keeping information confidential. 



  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
  • 5+ years of professional experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to maintain positive working relationships across departments/divisions.
  • Self-starter in a fast-paced environment with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple priorities
  • Previous experience in a large organization including multi-corporate environments with many departments.
  • Excellent supervisory and analytical skills.
  • Minimum of two years of supervisory experience or more years of directly relevant experience in leading an accounts payable team or managing accounts payable functions.
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
