Job Summary
The Low Current Technical Manager is responsible for leading and managing teams handling low-voltage (LV) and security cabling installations, ensuring high-quality delivery of structured cabling, fiber optics, UPS systems, and security infrastructure. This role oversees project execution, enforces compliance with standards, and drives continuous improvement in LV operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise teams of engineers and technicians in the design, installation, testing, and maintenance of LV systems.
- Oversee end-to-end project delivery for structured cabling, fiber optics, UPS, access control, CCTV, and other low-current systems.
- Manage resource allocation, scheduling, and task assignments to ensure efficient use of manpower and timely project completion.
- Ensure compliance with international standards (BICSI, TIA/EIA, ISO/IEC) and OEM guidelines across all LV installations.
- Review and approve technical drawings, cabling layouts, and system documentation prepared by engineers.
- Monitor installation quality, ensuring cable management, labeling, patching, and termination practices meet organizational standards.
- Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to align project goals and resolve technical issues.
- Conduct system inspections, acceptance testing, and quality assurance reviews for completed LV works.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers and technicians, building team capability and efficiency.
- Manage escalated troubleshooting for complex LV issues, ensuring root cause identification and corrective actions.
- Oversee procurement and inventory management of LV materials, ensuring adherence to budget and timelines.
- Support integration of LV infrastructure with IT, data center, and security systems.
- Develop and enforce safety standards, ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
- Participate in strategic planning for future LV and security system expansions and upgrades.
- Keep up to date with emerging technologies in LV systems, recommending adoption of best practices and new solutions.
- Report project progress, risks, and performance metrics to senior management and provide recommendations for improvement.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Telecommunications, Electronics, or related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 8–10 years of experience in low-current systems, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership or managerial role.
- Proven expertise in structured cabling, fiber optics, UPS systems, and security system installations.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience supervising engineers and technicians.
- Deep understanding of BICSI standards and best practices in LV design and implementation.
- Ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring technical accuracy and on-time delivery.
- Strong vendor and stakeholder management skills, with experience handling subcontractors and OEM providers.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills, with the ability to resolve escalated technical challenges.
- Familiarity with budgeting, resource planning, and procurement processes for LV projects.
- Strong communication and reporting skills, with the ability to engage senior stakeholders.
- Ability to work in dynamic environments, including construction sites, data centers, and operational facilities.
- Aviation experience is preferred.
