Terre des homme - Lausanne is seeking a qualified Part Time MEAL Assistant based in Zahle or surroundings.
Job Purpose / Main Functions:
The Monitoring, Evaluation and Data Management Assistant provides methodological and technical support to the Tdh programs to ensure the quality of M&E systems and mechanisms applied across the programme working within the framework established by the organization and aligned with global standards.
The M&E Assistant ensures that M&E approaches, methods, tools are standardized, relevant and consistent across all assigned units. He/she plans and implements activities requiring specific M&E expertise in addition to supporting initiatives related to data management and digital data collection platforms.
The M&E Assistant contributes to the development of a dynamic approach to M&E inside and outside Tdh and ensures that M&E is an integral part of all programme units, and that the M&E staff plays a support role for the rest of the programme staff.
The Monitoring, Evaluation and Data Management Assistant ensures that data collected from the field is reliable, ethical, and actionable to improve program quality and strengthen accountability to affected communities.
General Principles:
The M&E Assistant commits to observe discretion on any information related to the organization functioning and to respect the confidentiality of all staff and clients.
She/he will conduct her/his duties in respect of the Charter of Terre des hommes (Tdh) and Tdh Safeguarding Policy. She/he commits to ensure high level of community participation including adults, children, men, women and all those most closely aligned to receive services and will always work in the best interest of the child, family and community.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
GENERAL:
• Conduct regular field visits to monitor project activities and ensure alignment with work plans, standards, and targets.
• Verify beneficiary lists, attendance sheets, and activity records to ensure data accuracy and consistency.
• Support the establishment and operation of safe and inclusive community feedback mechanisms, such as suggestion boxes, helpdesks, or hotlines, ensuring access for children and vulnerable groups, and serve as field focal points for the FCRM.
• Conduct household surveys, verification visits, observation checklists, focus group discussions, key informant interviews, and other data collection methods as instructed by the MEAL officer.
TECHNICAL SUPPORT:
• Assist in the implementation of baseline, midline, and endline assessments, in line with project requirements.
• Organizes routine monitoring activities such as FGDs, KIIs, and surveys, ensuring quality data collection is carried out in line with MEAL standards, ensuring data quality through spot checks, triangulations, and consistency reviews.
• Support the MEAL Officer in ensuring data quality and consistency across all field-level data collection, analysis, and reporting.
• Assist in the implementation of accountability mechanisms, including helpdesks, feedback boxes, and direct community consultations.
• Compile qualitative findings and highlight key issues raised by project beneficiaries for reporting purposes.
LEARNING/TRAINING:
• Support with training of partner teams on the implementation, maintenance, and follow-up of MEAL tools
• Liaise with field program teams to coordinate monitoring activities and ensure smooth data collection.
• Share field-level monitoring observations and emerging issues with the MEAL Officer and program teams to improve implementation.
• Provide field-level analysis and recommendations at field level to support project improvement and adaptive learning.
• Document field-level lessons learned and good practices to feed into project reviews.
DATA MANAGEMENT:
• Maintain organized and up-to-date field-level MEAL documentation (forms, reports, pictures, attendance sheets).
• Collect, enter, clean, and support with the analysis of quantitative and qualitative field data in line with MEAL standards, ensuring accuracy, ethical practices, and timely submission.
• Support data verification and validation before uploading to the main database.
• Support in the testing and deployment of MEAL tools
• Support in maintaining data across systems such as Kobo, ODK, or Excel, ensuring consistency and reliability for reporting and analysis.
SECURITY, CHILD SAFETY, AND DATA PROTECTION:
• Understands and applies security policies, the Child Safeguarding Policy, and fraud prevention policies.
• Ensures ethical principles related to MEAL are respected, especially those concerning gender equality, fairness, and “do no harm”. Protects confidential data, applies the principles of informed consent, and protects children during the collection, processing, analysis, and use of MEAL data.
OTHER DUTIES:
• Undertake all other duties that may be requested by the line-manager and that are compatible with the job.
ORGANISATIONAL POLICIES
• Respects the Tdh Child Safeguarding Policy (CSP) and its principles of child protection, ensuring the policy’s implementation and prompt notification of the CSP Focal Point with any information regarding potential breaches of the policy;
• Is aware of, abides by and promotes the practices and values set out in all other Tdh policies and procedures such as the Internal Regulations, Standard Operating Procedures and other policies.
Job Requirements:
o Education / Qualifications: A University degree or equivalent in Management Information Systems, Social Sciences, Information Technology, or a related field or a relevant subject.
o Experience Minimum: 1-3 years of Monitoring, evaluation, and data management experience preferably with an international organization
o Languages: Fluency in Arabic and working knowledge of English.
o IT Knowledges This position requires high computer literacy with full knowledge of office applications such as Excel, KOBO, ODK.
