Terre des hommes - Lausanne is seeking a qualified Senior FPSS Facilitator based in Bekaa (Baalbek and Hermel districts).
Job Purpose / Main Functions:
The Senior FPSS Facilitator will oversee the implementation of FPSS activities for children at medium to high risk and their caregivers, both within Tdh and in collaboration with local partners. This role ensures that all FPSS activities adhere to organizational and interagency guidelines and contributes to building resilience and enhancing the well-being of vulnerable children, youth at risk, and their caregivers.
The Senior FPSS Facilitator is responsible for ensuring that all activities have a positive and lasting impact on children and caregivers, promoting emotional, psychological, and social well-being, while strengthening caregivers’ parenting skills.
The key responsibilities of this position are to:
• Oversee the development and implementation of age-appropriate psychosocial activities for children at medium to high risk and their caregivers, fostering resilience, well-being, and caregiver capacity.
• Ensure all FPSS activities are non-discriminatory, age- and gender-sensitive, and aligned with best practices and established guidelines.
• Facilitate the active participation of children and youth in psychosocial activities, creating a safe, supportive, and empowering environment.
• Contribute to monitoring and evaluation (M&E) efforts, tracking outcomes, and ensuring alignment with protection objectives.
• Ensure that children and youth consistently feel safe, respected, and emotionally secure throughout program participation.
The Senior FPSS Facilitator plays a central role in maintaining the quality, consistency, and positive impact of child protection and psychosocial support activities, supporting the emotional and psychological recovery and empowerment of vulnerable children and youth.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Planning and Implementation of Activities:
• Support the volunteer team in mapping and assessing children for participation in FPSS activities. Ensure proper follow-up on HR-related matters concerning volunteers, including performance monitoring and capacity development.
• Assess the specific needs and challenges faced by children and develop tailored PSS interventions to address these needs. Register and enroll children in the PSS program, ensuring their inclusion in all relevant activities.
• Plan, organize, and facilitate psychosocial activities for children, encouraging full participation. Develop action plans for group-based PSS interventions, aligning activities with identified needs. Ensure timely implementation in accordance with project objectives.
• Address challenging behaviors (e.g., conflict, aggression, introversion) by understanding underlying causes and applying appropriate communication techniques to manage and resolve issues positively.
• Ensure that children under your responsibility are protected from harm, stress, or abuse during activities. Create a safe and supportive environment for all participants.
• Promote and encourage children’s participation in all activities, ensuring their voices are heard and respected.
• Ensure activities are conducted in appropriate, child-friendly locations that meet safety standards. Coordinate transportation, including bus schedules and route planning, in collaboration with transport providers and partners.
• Document feedback from activities and provide regular progress reports to the line manager on the development of children and youth, highlighting challenges and successes. Collect feedback from caregivers and children to inform and improve future sessions.
• Plan and organize required materials and resources for PSS interventions. Ensure materials are used appropriately, safely stored, and available for each session.
• Identify children with specific CP concerns and ensure timely referral to appropriate internal case management services, following Tdh protocols.
• Assist in developing and refining PSS methodologies and M&E tools in coordination with the Senior Technical Program Officer. Review and update tools to ensure they remain relevant, up-to-date, and aligned with Tdh and Inter-Agency guidelines.
• Supervise the FPSS and PSS teams by assigning tasks based on priorities and providing support to ensure effective implementation of project activities and objectives.
Reporting:
• Provide regular field reports, protection monitoring reports, and project progress updates to the line manager.
• Assist in analyzing collected data and reports, both quantitatively and qualitatively.
• Provide timely information on progress when requested.
• Report on and support ongoing evaluation processes assessing the impact of activities on children, youth and caregivers.
• Ensure accurate daily recording of data (e.g., number of children, youth, and adults participating; activities delivered; etc.).
• Submit official and timely reports regarding any security or safety incidents.
Communication and Coordination:
• Maintain close coordination and regular updates with caseworkers, facilitators and psychologist.
• Contribute to a positive working atmosphere by interacting constructively with colleagues, children, youth, and caregivers.
• Communicate effectively with the technical team and managers, sharing ideas and proposals based on daily observations with children and caregivers.
• Participate in donor visits and support proper preparation and implementation.
• Engage with stakeholders, partners, and municipalities through regular field visits.
Organisational Policies:
• Adhere to Tdh’s Global Code of Conduct (GCD), Child Safeguarding Policy (CSP), Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) Policy, and Gender and Diversity Policy and its principles of child protection, ensuring these principles are upheld and promptly notifying the CSP/PSEA Focal Point of any potential breaches.
• Remain aware of, comply with, and promote the practices and values outlined in all other Tdh policies and procedures, including Internal Regulations, Standard Operating Procedures, and related policies.
• Actively participate in weekly and monthly coordination meetings with the line manager.
• Ensure that Do No Harm analyses are conducted and that the Do No Harm principle is upheld in all FPSS Facilitator engagements.
Other:
• Provide support to other teams and to the line manager as needed.
• Perform any other duties requested by the line manager that are aligned with the role and its responsibilities.
• Attends and actively participates in key coordination forums, including cluster meetings, governmental coordination meetings, Tdh internal meetings, and bilateral meetings, to ensure effective coordination and information sharing.
• Represents Tdh in local initiatives within their geographic area of responsibility, ensuring that a positive and professional image of Tdh is upheld. Ensures that Tdh’s mandate, thematic policies, ethics, values, and principles are consistently applied when engaging with external stakeholders.
Job Requirements:
• Academic Background:
o A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Psychology, Sociology…) is required. A Master’s degree is a plus but not mandatory.
o Only candidates with directly related and relevant educational backgrounds will be considered eligible for the recruitment process for this position.
• Experience:
o At least 3–5 years of relevant experience in FPSS, CP, or MHPSS.
o Proven experience facilitating FPSS activities for children, youth, and caregivers in humanitarian or development contexts. Experience with an INGO is preferred.
o Experience working with children at medium to high risk, including street-connected children, refugees, and other vulnerable groups.
o Previous experience supervising, mentoring, or training FPSS facilitators, volunteers, or social workers.
o Experience in capacity-building of staff and local partners in psychosocial support methodologies.
• Technical Competencies:
o Strong knowledge of CP and GBV principles and practices.
o Experience working with children, adolescents, youth, caregivers, and families from diverse backgrounds.
o Skills in quality assurance, monitoring, and reporting.
o Ability to contribute to innovation and development initiatives.
o Proficiency in computer applications and tools.
o Respect for and adherence to the institutional framework and organizational policies.
o Strong understanding of child protection principles, Psychological First Aid (PFA), and inter-agency MHPSS guidelines.
o Experience using group intervention approaches for FPSS, including structured and semi-structured PSS curricula.
o Familiarity with behavior management techniques to address challenging behaviors in children and youth.
o Knowledge of community-based child protection and safeguarding frameworks.
o Experience designing, implementing, and monitoring FPSS interventions.
o Ability to track the progress and effectiveness of psychosocial activities using M&E tools and case documentation.
