Terre des hommes - Lausanne is seeking Two qualified Health & Nutrition Community Mobilizers based in Tyre or surroundings for one of its projects in the South.



Job Purpose/ Main Functions:


The Health & Nutrition Community Mobilizer plays a critical role in delivering community-based health and nutrition services to vulnerable populations, particularly crisis-affected mothers and children. The role involves raising awareness on Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF), conducting malnutrition screening and monitoring child development milestones, and ensuring proper referral to health services, in close collaboration with the protection component of the program.



Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Implementation of Nutrition Activities:


 Conduct malnutrition screening for children under 5 years and ensure appropriate referral of 6%

of cases to PHCCs for further assessment and treatment.     


 Monitor the development milestones of children under 5 years and refer children showing signs of delayed development to specialized services.


 Conduct malnutrition screening for pregnant and lactating women (PLWs) and ensure referral of 1.3%

of cases to supplementary feeding programs.


 Provide nutrition supplementation including:  

  • Distribution of Multiple Micronutrient Powders (MNP) to  children aged 6-23 months (15 sachets/month per child).
  • Provision of Multiple Micronutrient Supplements (MMS) to  adolescent girls and PLWs.



Awareness-Rasing and Community Engagement:

 Provide IYCF awareness sessions to:  

  • caregivers of children under 6 months on optimal nutrition and breastfeeding.
  • caregivers of children under 2 years on complementary feeding and IYCF practices.


 Engage community members and promote the integration of health and nutrition within the protection component of the program.


 Ensure that referrals to PHCCs for vaccination and other essential health services are embedded within the nutrition activities.


Monitoring, Reporting, and Coordination:


 Record and maintain accurate data on screening, referrals, and supplementation distributions.


 Support the Nutrition Officer in reporting key indicators including screened beneficiaries, referred cases, and program outcomes.


 Collaborate with local partners, health centers, and community leaders to ensure the effectiveness and sustainability of interventions.


Organizational Policies:


 Respects the Tdh’s Global Code of Conduct (GCD), Child Safeguarding Policy (CSP), Prevention from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse Policy (PSEA) and Policy on Gender and Diversity and its principles of child protection, ensuring the policy’s implementation and prompt notification of the CSP/PSEA Focal Point with any information regarding potential breachs of the policy.

 Is aware of, abides by and promotes the practices and values set out in all other Tdh policies and procedures such as the Internal Regulations, Standard Operating Procedures and other policies.

 Undertake all other duties that may be requested by the line-manager and that are compatible with the job.

 Participate actively in weekly and monthly coordination meeting with the line managers.

 The health and nuitrition community mobilizers is expected to be present and available in case of emergencies, ensuring timely response and support to affected children and families. Given the nature of emergency contexts, the role requires flexibility in working hours and location of implementation, which may be adjusted based on the evolving situation and operational needs.



Job Requirements:


 A degree or certification in Nutrition, Public Health, Nursing, Midwifery, Community Health, or a related field.

 Experience: At least 1-2 years of experience in community health, nutrition programs, humanitarian/development settings. Experience in maternal and child health programs is an advantage.


Skills: Core Skills:


 Strong understanding of community-based health and nutrition interventions.

 Ability to effectively deliver awareness sessions and engage with community members.

 Experience in screening for malnutrition and monitoring child development milestones.

 Good knowledge of referral pathways and health system linkages.



Specific Skills:


 Good organization, planning, and reporting skills.

 Strong communication and facilitation skills.

 Ability to engage with local communities and work within their cultural context.

 Proficiency in Arabic (spoken and written) and basic knowledge of English is an asset.

 Moderate computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook) are a plus.
