Job purpose


The Accounts Receivable Supervisor oversees the receivables function to ensure accurate billing, timely collection, proper allocation of payments, and effective credit control in line with company policies. This role is pivotal in maintaining healthy cash flow, minimizing credit risk, and ensuring customer account accuracy.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Oversee daily accounts receivable operations, ensuring timely invoicing and accurate recording of transactions.
  • Monitor customer accounts to identify outstanding debts and ensure timely collections in accordance with agreed payment terms.
  • Implement and oversee credit control procedures, including assessing creditworthiness and recommending credit limits.
  • Manage customer relationships and handle escalated collection issues professionally.
  • Prepare and present regular AR reports, cash collection forecasts, and bad debt analyses to management.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and reconciliation schedules.
  • Lead, train, and mentor the AR team to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Continuously evaluate AR processes and propose improvements to enhance cash flow and minimize risk.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies.



Key Accountabilities



  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of all AR transactions, including invoicing, receipts, and adjustments, maintaining up-to-date financial records.
  • Assess credit risk of new and existing customers, recommend appropriate credit limits, and enforce company credit policy to safeguard cash flow.
  • Deliver accurate, timely reporting to management, providing insights into AR performance, expected cash inflows, and potential risks to revenue.
  • Develop team capabilities through coaching, performance reviews, and training initiatives, driving improvements in accuracy, productivity, and morale.
  • Identify process inefficiencies or risks in AR operations, recommending and implementing enhancements to improve collection effectiveness and reduce exposure.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for collection disputes, ensuring timely resolution while maintaining positive customer relationships.



Job Specification (qualifications)


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification is a plus.
  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Experience in the real estate sector is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of real estate billing structures (e.g., installments, lease schedules, service charges).
  • Proficient in ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, Yardi) and MS Excel.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to lead a team and collaborate across departments.
