About the Role:
First Iraqi Bank (FIB) is looking for the AML/CFT Liaison Officer is responsible for carrying out duties within the scope of the role related to Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing reporting, in support of the department’s objective of protecting the Bank from money laundering, terrorist financing, and sanctions-related risks through screening, monitoring, analysis, and reporting. This role also ensures the accuracy of output, quality of service, and compliance with delegated authorities, internal policies, and the instructions and requirements of the relevant regulatory authorities to support and enhance the Bank’s digital banking channels and integration services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute assigned tasks and transactions accurately and within the required timelines, in accordancewith approved procedures and delegated authorities.
- Review the completeness of required data, documents, and approvals before completing or referring to the work.
- Follow up on open cases, missing requirements, and exceptions until closure or escalation within the specified timelines.
- Update systems and records and maintain supporting evidence and documentation accurately and in atraceable manner.
- Review KYC, CDD, and EDD data and documentation for high-risk cases in line with approved procedures.
- Analyze alerts, transactions, and unusual patterns, and document the rationale for decisions and actions taken.
- Perform or review sanctions screening and checks against local and international lists, analyze potential matches, and handle them in accordance with approved procedures.
- Collect relevant information and analyze accounts, relationships, and related parties to assess the level of suspicion and associated risks.
- Escalate cases require further review or reporting to the authorized officer within the approved timelines and procedures.
- Maintain the confidentiality of reports, analyses, records, and documents, and prevent any unauthorized disclosure.
- Comply with the Bank’s policies and procedures and the instructions of relevant regulatory authorities, while maintaining the confidentiality of Bank, customer, and employee information.
- Coordinate with relevant departments and units and provide required information within delegated authorities to ensure timely completion of work and resolution of dependencies.
- Participate in improving procedures, systems, and controls, and provide recommendations that enhance efficiency and quality while reducing risks and errors.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in law, Accounting, Finance, Banking Sciences, Business Administration, or arelated field relevant to the nature of the role. CAMS certification or an equivalent qualification is considered an advantage.
- Typically, a minimum of 2–4 years of relevant experience is required, preferably within the banking sector, depending on the nature of the role.
- Proficiency in relevant systems and applications, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, time management, report writing, communication and teamwork skills, confidentiality, and adherence to policies and controls.
