About the role:
We believe the role of a proper BI analyst is greatly misunderstood. As a BI analyst, you will be spending time getting to know the business, dissecting data, analyzing trends and building both visually appealing and informationally efficient and effective dashboards. A BI analyst is not someone who "builds reports". A BI analyst is someone who can sift through endless data repositories to distill the most pertinent strategic insights for each business function. They will then engineer these findings into dashboards that allow key stakeholders to very quic0+kly and effectively understand where the business is going and even take decisions based on data-based recommendations provided by the analyst.

While a data analysts role focuses on rapid problem solving, BI analysts are more about carefully crafted insights that take time and effort to engineer in terms of both metrics and design. Their main goal is to produce insights that can be understood by business experts in the quickest most effortless way possible; to cultivate an analytical masterpiece.

The BI analyst will focus on strong, in-depth understanding of business processes and the data they generate. They will then spend their time analyzing this data to produce actionable, strategic insights. These insights will then need to be expertly distilled into a meticulously chosen set of KPI’s and visualizations arranged in interactive dashboards.

The BI analyst will enjoy the freedom to analyze, assess, and explore millions of rows of data across a multitude of tools and will have the chance to present these findings to their stakeholders, which can include the company’s CEO.

Ideal Background:
Education: Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
- Proven work experience in the field of Data Analysis or Business Intelligence.
- Experience building expertly designed dashboards is strongly preferred.
- Strong statistical and analytical skills.
- A good eye for detail as it pertains to design theory.
- Sufficiency in data analysis tools and technologies:
a. Knowledge of dashboarding tools (e.g. Tableau or Power BI) is required.
b. SQL
c. Python
d. Excel
e. Note: Although coding skills are not usually required by BI analysts, we strongly encourage the members of our data science team to have a fully functional skill set to allow for self-sufficiency.
- Excellent communication skills as the candidate will be required to translate numbers and trends into business insights.
