Job Description: Underwriting (UW) Agent
Position Overview:
The Underwriting (UW) Agent plays a pivotal role in the Enrollment & Underwriting Department, ensuring that client files are thoroughly reviewed and processed in compliance with program guidelines. This role involves meticulous file examination, document management, and adherence to regulatory standards to facilitate accurate and efficient decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Client File Review:
- Conduct thorough reviews of client files to ensure all information, including documents, debts, and program estimates, aligns with program guidelines.
- Verify the accuracy and completeness of uploaded documents and ensure all required information is present.
- File Duplication Prevention:
- Ensure that client files are not duplicated within the system, maintaining the integrity of the file database.
- Eligibility Determination:
- Assess and determine the purchase eligibility of client files based on established program guidelines and criteria.
- Evaluate files to ensure they meet all necessary qualifications for approval.
- Approval and Rejection of Files:
- Approve files that meet all guidelines and criteria, ensuring prompt processing.
- Reject files that do not meet requirements, providing detailed and valid reasons for rejection.
- Return Notes and Feedback:
- Ensure return notes clearly outline the specific issues that need to be addressed by affiliates.
- Provide clear and constructive feedback to affiliates on rejected files to facilitate timely and accurate corrections.
- Document Management:
- Extract and upload the ACH authorization and Complete Legal Plan (CLP) agreement from the client contract.
- Ensure that these documents are accurately uploaded and associated with the correct client file.
- Issue Identification and Escalation:
- Identify and escalate any issues encountered during file review to QA/Underwriting leads.
- Track and follow up on escalated issues to ensure prompt resolution.
- Compliance and Policy Adherence:
- Ensure that all file reviews and decisions are in strict compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Stay updated on any changes in guidelines and procedures to maintain compliance and operational effectiveness.
Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in reviewing and processing client files.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to provide clear feedback and collaborate with affiliates.
- Proficiency in relevant software and systems used for underwriting and document management.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and integrity.
