About the Role
As an Android Intern, you will work with experienced engineers to build, optimize, and ship features in our Android application. This is a hands-on, mentorship-driven role designed to help you grow from foundational knowledge into writing production-ready code.
We care more about your curiosity, problem-solving ability, and willingness to learn than the number of frameworks you already know. If you enjoy building Android apps and want to understand how scalable mobile systems are built in practice, this role is for you.
Principal Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Build UI screens and reusable components using XML layouts or Jetpack Compose
- Structure applications using MVVM, Activities, Fragments, and Navigation components
- Integrate REST APIs using Retrofit and display dynamic data in the app
- Manage local storage using SharedPreferences and Room database
- Debug and fix issues using Android Studio tools (Logcat, debugger) with team support
- Participate in code reviews, standups, and pair programming sessions
- Work with Git by creating branches, writing commits, and submitting pull requests
- Follow engineering best practices, coding standards, and architecture guidelines
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and problem-solving
- Working knowledge of Kotlin or Java and familiarity with Android Studio
- Ability to build basic UI layouts using XML or Jetpack Compose
- Understanding of REST APIs, JSON parsing, and basic networking concepts
- Foundational debugging skills using Logcat and breakpoints
Nice to Have
- Personal Android projects, GitHub repositories, or Play Store applications
- Exposure to Android learning resources (e.g., Google Android Basics, Udacity, Philipp Lackner) with practical application
- Basic understanding of Git and GitHub workflows beyond basic commits
