Terre des hommes - Lausanne is seeking a qualified Bus Driver based in Saida for one of its projects.
Driver should have a driving Licence of public transportation- busses -on hand
Job Purpose / Main Functions:
The Magic Bus Program is seeking a dedicated and responsible Bus Driver to support our mission of providing protection, education, and development opportunities for street-working children. The Bus Driver will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our program's bus, maintaining a secure environment, and facilitating program activities.
The Driver will drive and handle the magic bus and equipment of the Terre des hommes delegation according to the project’s plan. S/he sees the Logistician about any issues to do with the vehicles. When on trips out in the field with a Project Manager, may be asked to collaborate with project activities.
The Aim of the position is to ensure that Tdh staff can deliver their services and conduct their business by being where they need to be safely and on time.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Safe Transportation Safely operate the program's bus, ensuring the well-being of all passengers, including facilitators and children when in transit.
Parking and Maintenance Properly park the bus when stationary, perform routine maintenance checks, and promptly report any issues or required repairs.
Buss cleaning Maintain a clean and hygienic bus environment, including regular cleaning and sanitization to create a safe and pleasant space for program participants
Security task Develop risk mitigation and security and safety plan in coordination with project manager and head of logistic. Implement security measures to safeguard the bus and its occupants, particularly during program activities in various areas.
Coordination:
Collaborate closely with program facilitators to ensure a smooth transition between transportation and programmatic activities. The bus should remain stationary during these activities. Mapping of the stakeholders and municipalities and all relevant actors. Closed coordination with the municipalities and relevant stakeholders.
Route Planning Work with program organizers to plan efficient routes between program locations, ensuring timely arrivals and departures.
Protection monitoring:
Regular monitoring and reporting child protection issues
Fleet Management Lead all aspects regarding the safe and efficient driving of children, staff and materials as directed by the fleet management policy.
Responsible for the day-to-day fueling, repairs, checks, maintenance and cleanliness of Tdh vehicles
Equipment:
Support the safe and timely transportation of equipment and other tasks related to inventory management in the buss.
General Encourage and promote clear and positive communication amongst other members of the department and delegation.
Support reporting requirements as needed.
Organisational Policies Respect the Tdh Child Safeguarding Policy (CSP) and its principles of child protection, ensuring the policy’s implementation and prompt notification of the CSP Focal Point with any information regarding potential breaches of the policy.
Is aware of, abides by and promotes the practices and values set out in all other Tdh policies and procedures such as the Internal regulations, Standard Operating Procedures and other policies.
Undertake all other duties that may be requested by the line manager and that are compatible with the job.
Job Requirements:
• Academic Background: Schooling education: High School
• Experience: Driving bus experience, holder of a valid driving license for Heavy rigid vehicle weight
• Qualifications: Valid commercial driver's license with a clean driving record. Strong commitment to the safety and well-being of program participants. -Ability to maintain a clean and organized bus environment. Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and ability to perform routine checks. Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with program facilitators. Flexibility in work hours and the ability to adapt to varying program schedules. ( 2 shifts, day and night). Compassion, patience, and a genuine interest in working with disadvantaged children.

• Additional Information: The position may require occasional evening or weekend work, depending on the program schedule. - The Bus Driver will not be responsible for transporting children. The bus will move from area to area, and children will not be on board during transit. The primary focus of the Bus Driver's role is to support the logistics and safety aspects of the Magic Bus Program, allowing facilitators to conduct programmatic activities effectively.
