Terre des hommes - Lausanne is seeking a qualified Finance Assistant based in South.
Job Purpose / Main Functions:
Overall objective: To support the efficient and effective operations and delivery of Tdh’s programs in the South of Lebanon, in line with Tdh’s standards, policies and procedures, and based on a proactive and collaborative way of working with all departments. He/she reports to the Senior Finance Officer.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
National Duties:
• Process payments related to the delegation and cannot be done in other bases
• Coordinate with the bank on issues related to payments and cash transfers
• Coordinate the payroll payment
• Assist the Senior Admin Officer with the audit requirement
Cash Management:
• Leads the complete cash management process including payments, working advances, reimbursements, transfers, bank cheques, translation of key documents, in line with delegation procedures and as needed in Tyr Base
• Responsible for the effective management of petty cash in Tyr Base
Accountancy:
• Contributes accountancy information regarding petty cash to the Senior Finance Officer in Tyr Base.
• Scanning of all accountancy and supportive documents and upload to SharePoint.
Reporting External:
• Support financial reporting requirements to the Senior Finance Officer.
Audit and Control:
• Assist the Senior Finance Officer as needed by providing information for audit and control purposes.
General Management:
• Ensure clear positive communication with all TDH team members.
• Respect budget information that is given and constantly work to reduce costs and improve the quality of purchases related to this role.
• Maintain a high level of organization and ensure effective time management to meet deadlines and support the smooth operation of the finance team
Organizational Policies:
• Respects the Tdh Child Safeguarding Policy (CSP) and its principles of child protection, ensuring the policy’s implementation and prompt notification of the CSP Focal Point with any information regarding potential breaches of the policy;
• Is aware of, abides by and promotes the practices and values set out in all other Tdh policies and procedures such as the Internal Regulations, Standard Operating Procedures and other policies.
Other:
• In the event of an emergency, the Finance Assistant may be required to work outside of standard working hours and be flexible to changing priorities to ensure timely financial support for emergency programs. Additionally, the Finance Officer may be required to travel to the field offices as needed to provide on-the-ground financial assistance and ensure the smooth implementation of emergency financial operations.
Job Requirements
Academic Background: Accountancy Diploma or any relevant experience, Bachelor degree in Finance is an added value
Experience: 2 years experience in relevant position, preferably in NGOs
Professional competencies:
• Knowledge of basic bookeeping and financial operations is strongly desired.
• Prior experience with donor-funded reform programs preferred, but not required.
• Strong organizational skills, rigorous attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities needed to perform effectively in a demanding position.
